broccoli & rocket soup

This weekend seems like the perfect time to make a pot of soup and eat it by the fire with some nice crusty sourdough bread. This bowl from dbo home would be perfect for your of serve hearty goodness. And this soup would be the perfect recipe to put in it - broccoli & rocket soup (courtesy of goop.com)...

* 1 tablespoon olive oil

* 1 clove garlic, thinly sliced
* 1/2 yellow onion, roughly diced
* 1 head broccoli, cut into small florets (about 2/3 pound)

* 2 1/2 cups water

* 1/4 teaspoon each coarse salt and freshly ground black pepper
* 3/4 cup ro
cket (watercress would be good, too)
* 1/2 lemon

Heat the olive oil in a medium nonstick saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic and onion and sauté for just a minute or until fragrant. Add the broccoli and cook for four minutes or until bright green. Add the water, salt and pepper, bring to a boil, lower the heat and cover. Cook for eight minutes or until the broccoli is j
ust tender. Pour the soup into a blender and puree with the rocket until quite smooth. Be very careful when blending hot liquids; start slowly and work in batches if necessary (you don’t want the steam to blow the lid off). Serve the soup with a bit of fresh lemon.

enjoy and have a nice weekend.

winter's not so bad

i take it all back...

winter doesn't make me angry at all. what better excuse to: drink hot chocolate; eat lots of delicious soup; wear cute beanies and mittens; rush home to watch dvd's; stay indoors all day and doodle.

hello winter

well folks, i think it's safe to say that our warm autumn days are over and we can say hello to winter. i spent all weekend in front of the fire with my little puppy malcom and watched all sorts of things blowing past the front windows... the water at winkipop today felt like it dropped about 5 degrees... and the thought of the long dark winter ahead makes me feel a little grumpy, like this littly angry bird by rebecca volynsky.

cricket ink.

These cards are a little project I’ve been working on lately, I designed the logo and square cards for a dear friend, cricket. Her photographic studio - cricket ink. - is the loveliest I’ve been to. And the photos in her new exhibition ‘botanicas (1)’ are some of the lovliest photos I’ve seen too. The exhibition is on at The Cottage on Pakington Street, Newtown until the 15th of May. Call in and take a look, and while you’re there, why not sample a soy chai latte with honey?

together at last forever

Here’s a sample of some artwork I’ve been looking to lately for inspiration. There’s stuff by catherine campbell, claire verrell, hanna konola and pretty little thieves (who i just love at the moment). Lots of lovely sad & distant girls, watercolour, and fine lines. I especially like the very flowy yet structured text in the poster 'together at last forever'... oh, how sweet.
